Once a lead is vetted by our internal client services team, a Pilot in Command (PIC) will be assigned based on the following criteria: Availability, Location Proximity, Pilot Experience, Current Part 107 Certificate and Required Waivers (if any), Special Equipment (e.g., hi res cameras or thermal sensors), Output Requirements and Current Pilot Insurance*. It is therefore critical that, during the Pilot Registration Process, you are thorough in your answers to questions around your experience, capabilities and personally owned and registered equipment.

*Note: If needed, Pilots may acquire insurance coverage for individual missions.  Aerial Decisions has partnered with Skywatch.ai for our Pilots’ insurance needs.

Crew members are paid an hourly rate based on crew position for each mission they complete. The total amount earned varies depending on the scope of mission, crew size and project fee.  

1. Yes.  All Pilots must carry a minimum of $1 million in Aviation Liability insurance* for each Aerial Decisions mission that they fly.  This covers basic liability in the unfortunate event of an accident that causes harm to people or property.  Depending on Client requirements for a given mission, greater amounts of liability insurance coverage may be required and the Client may also require endorsement as Additional Named Insured on the Pilot’s liability policy.  Optionally, Pilots may also choose to carry Hull Insurance to cover repair or replacement of their drone(s) in the event of a crash.
